Little Eyes, Big Care

Children’s eyes undergo significant changes as they grow, which is why their eye health requires special attention. It is recommended by the Alberta Association of Optometrists that a child should receive their first eye exam between six and nine months of age. If no concerns are seen at this appointment, the next exam should be between the ages of two and five with yearly exams following. These examinations are covered by Alberta Health Care until a child’s 19th birthday.

Early detection of Conditions and treatment

Building Strong Visual Foundations

One of the primary reasons for scheduling routine eye exams for kids is early detection. Below are conditions that can be treated effectively when detected early. These conditions, if left untreated, can impede development of the eyes and lead to permanent vision loss or lifelong visual impairments.
